So I did it. I created a blog for all to see. I CAN complete administrative things. Thanks to all the people who gave me feedback on names. Needless to say I got a couple votes for each possible blog name and had to finally decide myself. Here it is-- Mangosteen Mambo.
Mangosteen Mambo what a strange name, but if you know me I'm a strange person so I guess it fits. What's a Mangosteen you ask? Well it is only the queen of fruits. Unlike the king of fruits, Durian, which tastes and smells like dirty socks mixed with rotting onions a Mangosteen is good.A mangosteen (pictured in the title of myblog) is a sweet, juicy, and amazingly good tasting fruit. It's addicting as well. It's also advertized to have healing properties with stories of people being released from cancer and other aliaments. (I'm not sure of this, but I do know that it is delicious.)
In January, I am moving to Thailand to work with the non-profit organziation Servant Partners. I will live in the slums, learn Thai, and build relationships with my neighbors. Hopefully I will also be an instrument of God in bring his sweet, juicy, and amazingly good truth. Jesus is addicitive and he offers real healing properties both emotional and physical. Lord willing I will be able to bring this truth in a contexutalized way to the Thais.
Now the other part of this name: Mangosteen Mambo--The Mambo. I love to dance and I love latin culture--especially after living in Pomona for two years where I ate authentic tacos , fresh tamales, and learned emensly about relationships. Dancing is fun and adventurous. When I dance it is a time to be free-spirited as well as to be led. May Jesus lead me as I dance around my nieghborhood, may I endure as I learn the steps of a new culture, and may I have fun on this crazy adventrue.
Here to the delcious dance--the Mangosteen Mambo
